Armadillo's, dolphins, and space shuttles!

I started the trip at a KOA just outside of Savannah. The main reason for this stop was to wash the RV and just organize. Note, if you need to wash your RV the Savannah South KOA is a great place, it only cost me $3.00 to wash the RV.

I attempted to pack as though I was full timing. I've only been gone 9 days and I've already reorganized twice. I'm sure as I learn more about this lifestyle that I'll figure things out. Well, after 2 days on my trip my computer broke. All the lights came on, but the screen remained dark. I meet a couple at Crooked River State park who live in St. Mary's and they told me about a computer shop on King Bay's Road. I don't know the name of it, but it was a great place. He had it working in about 5 minutes and didn't charge me anything!! And I learned that removing the battery and putting it back can solve some problems on a PC, even when you aren't using the battery - strange!! Between not having a computer and then camping at Hanna Park where I didn't have access it's been about a week since I've been on-line - I'm going through withdrawals!!!

My first stop was at Crooked River State Park. The main reason I camped here was to go to Cumberland Island. I've tent camped on the island many times, but I haven't been in about 10 years. It was great. The weather was perfect, I saw Armadillo's, wild horses and lots of wide open beach!!! Here is a picture of the beach on Cumberland Island just the way I like it - very few people, one of the trails and some wildlife.

Then it was on to Hanna Park, just outside of Jacksonville, FL. I meet up with the SouthEast Lazy Daze group for several days. Lazy Daze RVs aren't very common so it's funny to see so many at one time. You can see a red Lazy Daze behind mine in the picture below. The park was great. It was just a few minute bike ride to the beach. Every morning I was at the beach for sunrise and walked about 3 miles. Unfortunately the sun only rose one day, all the other day's it was so foggy you could barely see. Those days, it didn't take long for me to be wet from the fog and dew.

In addition to walking and riding my bike, we socialized and ate. Why does socializing always involve eating? The get together was over on Sunday, but I stayed until Monday. Fortunately for me and the other 7 Lazy Dazers who stayed because the Space Shuttle was rescheduled for Sunday night. We went to the beach and watched it. I didn't really know what to expect, but it was really interesting. Notice on the last picture that you can see where the rocket boosters separate from the shuttle, you will probably have to click on the picture to see it. I don't know too much about the shuttle, but after seeing this I think I'll do a bit of research.
The pictures in my blog are very hard to place using blogspot. A fellow Lazy Dazer told me about some software that I could use, but I haven't loaded it yet. I think it's time I looked into it. Lazy Dazer - Is that what folks who own a Lazy Daze RV are called?

  1. Hey Pam,
We were at Cumberland Island too! I wonder if we overlapped and didn't realize it. My family and 2 other families went over on Sat 3/7 and came back on Wed 3/11. We lucked out and hit that perfect weather window along with the full moon. It would have been funny to run into you on one of the paths. We even talked about your new lifestyle while we were there. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time already. Keep it up!
